Blog #4 Museum of the moving image experience

Niko Yuvienco Museum HW Media 4/9/16 Blog #4             My experience on going to the museum of the moving image was really enjoyable. It was very interesting to see all the history of film. The collections of items that they have are really unique. I saw many things they we have learned throughout the semester in media 160. The showed us the film cameras, different actors, the zoetrope devices, and much more. What I really found interesting were the interactive pieces that they had on the second floor. The images on the zoetrope device were really nice to see in person. The museum of the moving image is the only place I know that has a real zoetrope. The other exhibits were very nice to see as well. The floor with all the masks and makeup was really fascinating. To see things that you have seen on movies is a real treat when you see them up close and personal. I would have liked to spend more time on the third floor ...

Project 3 Draft

https://vimeo.com/267863654 The short film is about a typical day for a college student. The student works on his homework, studies, goes to class, then when that bell rings it's like music to his hears. That is the best sound for a college student because it means we can leave and go home. I use 3 different songs in the background to express what the student is going through at the time and what he is feeling. Each song is a different emotion and for a specific reason for that. He hears that bell rings and is on his way home to go live his life outside of school.

The scene I have chosen from the movie portrays great examples of film editing strategies. In this scene the camera work was done specifically to help the audience grasp the meaning of the scene. You can see in the first shot the editing strategy called “establishing the shot.” This is used to show the audience the world around the character. It’s easier for the audience to figure out where the scene is and what’s actually happening. You can see the car in one shot, then the highway with the car, and then another shot of him driving. This is great to open up your film or your scene. Another editing strategy used in the scene is called “eyeline matching.” It is done by showing the audience what the cha...

SoundWalk

Niko Yuvienco Media HW 3/29/18 Soundwalk                 Soundwalking is used for deep focus on your environment and to further enhance your ability as not just an artist, but as a human being to help you fully understand the world. It is about opening up your ears to new sounds and even sounds that are normally there but we as humans don’t really actually listen to them on a deeper level. This day and age people are more accustomed to using their mobile phones and electronic devices. I believe that has made people lazier and less in tune with nature and the world that surrounds us.                 On my soundwalk I walked around my neighborhood, which is fairly quiet until a helicopter comes flying past me overhead or a car starts hocking its horn in frustration, but this is New York after all so what can you do. On my wal...
